The videos of public meetings on Pine Plains Views are neither authorized nor recognized by the Pine Plains town government.  They are presented here as a community service authorized by the New York State Open Meetings Law:

Any meeting of a public body that is open to the public shall be open to being photographed, broadcast, webcast, or otherwise recorded and/or transmitted by audio or video means. As used herein the term “broadcast” shall also include the transmission of signals by cable.

In addition to its regular agenda, the Board held a public hearing on the coming 2017 town budget.  This video, because it may ultimately serve as an unofficial yet complete record of the process,  has been uploaded in High Definition video and may be (and should be) seen full-screen by clicking the square arrow box on the lower right in the control bar.

The Town Building Inspector, Drew Weaver, gave a very useful tip at 10:20 into the video where he mentions Mosquito Dunks, non-toxic and safe for pets, as well as people, that “that you can put in stagnant water to prevent mosquito breeding”.

You can find out more about Mosquito Dunks here. I’m sharing it because it is such a good idea in this period of mosquito-borne diseases.

Start of Historic District presentation is at 18:35

The meeting started in normal fashion, but when it was time for Scott Chase to present a Power Point presentation about the Trails Committee report, the projector and the video camera had a digital spat!

The meeting continued without that pesky projector.

Note: perhaps there was a silver lining to this flap.  In the future, projector or no, I will ask for a digital copy of what is being presented so that it can be shared with the virtual attendees of Pine Plains Views Open Meetings.
