The Patchin Mills Bridge Explained at Town Board Meeting February 18,2016

The community of greater Pine Plains has been wondering:

When will the bridge reopen?
Will the pumpkins be back for Halloween?

Representatives from Dutchess County government came to the Pine Plains Town Board meeting on Thursday, February 18, to inform the community of the plans for a new bridge and to hear the grievances of people who have been inconvenienced by the closing of the Patchin Mills bridge.

The Town Board meeting was in 2 parts, the bridge presentation followed by this regular board meeting:

Town Board Reorganization Meeting, Jan. 7, 2016

This meeting was held in two parts, the swearing in of the elected officials and then, after a closed executive session, the personnel appointments were announced.

As it is my policy to provide gavel-to-gavel unedited coverage, and there was a delay in the arrival of the judge for the swearing in, there was a period in which there was little discussion and no decisions made in the first video.

Once sworn in, the Board went into a closed Executive Session.  They came back to announce the personnel appointments.

Town Board, December 17, 2015

I assumed that the Board would acknowledge that this was the last meeting of the Town Board for George Keeler and Jim Jackson. Jim was physically absent and there was no recognition of George’s terms of service to the town — he had already been presented with a plaque at the November meeting.

I want to give a shout out of thanks to George. He publicly acknowledged Pine Plains Views and helped with its coverage of the community. For example, one evening George contacted me from the funeral home to see if I would film a funeral the next day to honor a very deserving local son and veteran. It turned out to be Dave Cookingham.
